Electrical Distribution Optimization Graybar Experiences the Power of GAINS in Their Supply Chain

Graybar, a Fortune 500 electrical distribution and supply chain management company, needed to replace an aging planning optimizer in its ERP system after it was announced to be nearing end-of-life. The team evaluated four supply chain planning and optimization solutions, including GAINSystems, and wanted a tool strong enough for economic decision-making and easy for inventory planners to use.

GAINSystems implemented an IIPSE-based approach using live data simulation to show how its planning method could improve inventory, investment, profit, and service outcomes. Graybar saw Material Availability rise from 89% to 93% in Year 1, along with a 34% reduction in purchase order receiving activity, an 8% reduction in transfer orders, and a 13.5% increase in annual sales. GAINSystems also projected $14M in annual inventory reductions, $1.7M in annual receiving activity reductions, and $2.7M in annual expediting reductions, with actual results described as even better than expected.
