Northumberland County Council, a unitary authority in North East England, was struggling with strain on its service infrastructure across 380 locations after budget cuts made its legacy setup expensive to maintain. The council wanted a way to bring people together in a central hub and make teams more agile, so it chose G Suite from Google Cloud.

With support from Netpremacy, Northumberland County Council trained 300 staff members to help educate colleagues and rolled out G Suite to 5,500 corporate users and 11,500 schools users within months. Staff began collaborating in Docs and Sheets, using Hangouts for daily meetings and even at fire scenes, and the council expects its move to Chromebooks to save close to £2.5 million on licensing and hardware while reducing its datacenter footprint to virtually nothing.
