SAS strengthens customer security with Futurice across 272 routes

SAS, the leading airline in Scandinavia, faced the challenge of increasing cybersecurity threats and fraud attempts on its digital channels. The airline needed to establish a modern customer identity and access management (CIAM) layer to overhaul its login, profile, and data security features. To achieve this, SAS partnered with vendor Futurice to co-create a new customer authentication layer.

Futurice implemented a solution by researching CIAM alternatives and recommending a commercial provider to ensure optimal maintenance and development. Working closely with the SAS team, they built a new authentication service and a global CIAM platform, updating security flows while ensuring the features remained seamless and on-brand for customers. The results for SAS included improved security and fraud prevention, more reliable customer data, and a reduced risk of reputational damage. Futurice delivered a solution that made customer account misuse near-impossible and provided SAS with proactive fraud detection capabilities.
