Case Study: United Arab Emirates Department of Health builds collaborative foresight capabilities with Futures Platform

With a robust platform and clear visuals, even large, diverse groups can work on foresight strategy together

The United Arab Emirates Department of Health wanted to build an internal foresight function after realizing its strategic planning horizon was too short and that foresight’s role was unclear. It partnered with Futures Platform and used the Futures Platform digital foresight tool to help staff understand foresight thinking and support a broader, more systematic approach.

Futures Platform provided consulting and a platform for trend analysis, horizon scanning, and stakeholder collaboration, helping the department create a foresight development roadmap and engage healthcare professionals across Abu Dhabi. The work highlighted themes such as digital health and informed thinking about AI, big data, and genomics, while giving participants an easy-to-use shared view of emerging trends; the case study does not cite hard numerical results, but it describes stronger foresight capability, broader participation, and an ongoing program rather than a one-off exercise.
