Building Four Future Visions for the City of Parkano in Finland

The City of Parkano in Finland needed to renew its strategy and 2030 vision, and wanted a better way to identify future risks and opportunities beyond the usual local stakeholder assumptions. To support this foresight work, the city used Futures Platform’s collaborative foresight platform.

Futures Platform helped Parkano run systematic horizon scanning, three rounds of workshops, and a final analysis using digital radars, voting, rating and commenting tools. The process broadened the city’s view of change drivers and produced four future visions for Parkano: Happy and vibrant, Entrepreneurial and thriving, Capable and networked, and Functional and sustainable, which now guide the city’s strategy work and follow-up questionnaire.
