Colquitt EMC Utilizes Advanced OMS Solution to Tackle Hurricane Hermine’s Severe System Damage and Outages

Colquitt Electric Membership Cooperative, a Southeast Georgia utility serving more than 42,000 members, faced a major restoration challenge when Hurricane Hermine pushed severe damage across its system and left over 38,000 customers without power. With downed lines, broken poles, and trees blocking repairs, the co-op needed a faster way to manage a high volume of storm outages, so it relied on Futura Systems and its Outage Management System.

Futura Systems implemented FuturaOMS and a recent system upgrade to help Colquitt EMC prioritize outages, speed dispatching, and close work orders more efficiently with fewer people. The utility reported that OMS cut at least a full day, and possibly a day and a half, off restoration time, while also reducing strain on crews and improving communication with Futura’s support team during the storm.
