Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) is a nonprofit providing civil legal aid to low-income residents across seven New York counties. When Ann Hyatt joined as Director of Development & External Relations she launched a $1 million capital campaign to hire additional attorneys and expand services, but needed an easy, professional donor-management system to organize prospects, track pledges, and manage stewardship.
Hyatt adopted FundRaiser (upgrading from Basic to Select) because it was simpler to use than her previous system, letting her personally manage donors, code campaign gifts, and keep detailed notes while a part-time assistant handles data entry. In about a year the campaign surpassed the halfway mark—raising $677,000—while streamlining operations and strengthening LSHV’s fundraising capacity.
