The American Bear Association, a sanctuary and education nonprofit, was struggling with stagnant membership—new sign-ups were merely replacing lapsed members because they had no effective renewal system in place. With quarterly newsletters and multiple membership levels, staff lacked a way to track expiration dates, so many long-time supporters slipped away.
They upgraded from FundRaiser Basic to FundRaiser Select, which migrated data smoothly, flagged duplicate records, and let the team track renewals and send timely reminders (including expiration stickers on newsletters). As a result, membership renewals have increased, returning long-dormant members and helping offset losses from the poor economy.
