How Glowforge Used FullContact To Personalize Their Email Referral Program

Glowforge, a Seattle-based startup that builds a desktop 3D laser printer, faced the challenge of proving demand and building an audience for a crowdfunding pre-sale—starting from roughly 800 subscribers. To drive a high-performing referral program they turned to FullContact, using FullContact’s Person API to enable personalized referral pages that introduced new prospects with the referrer’s name and photo.

FullContact populated the referrer data on Glowforge’s landing pages and enabled a personalized, two-sided referral offer. The results were dramatic: about 10,000 signups in the first two months, a $27.9M, 30-day crowdfunding raise with roughly 30% of sales attributable to the referral campaign, a ~3x lift in landing-page conversion (and a reported 30% boost tied to FullContact data), ~25% of purchases coming via referral, and referral visitors converting ~6x higher than other channels—while also increasing customer engagement and feedback.
