Facing the need for faster, more accurate field data collection to produce complete asset inventories for diverse clients, SMEC sought a mobile solution to standardize and streamline on-site asset capture and condition assessment.

SMEC adopted Fulcrum as an all‑in‑one mobile platform, building more than 95 custom apps to support inventory, classification, data capture and condition assessments. Using this system the team has collected over 20,000 assets across dozens of South African projects—delivering asset management work for government bodies, aid agencies, utilities and private clients—and embedding modern, integrated engineering systems to continuously improve delivery.
