Business Process Management Students Improve Their Application Development Knowledge Using Fujitsu RunMyProcess

Georgia State University wanted to give Business Process Management undergraduates practical, hands‑on experience building workflow applications. Professor Timothy Olsen needed a cost‑effective, easy‑to‑manage, cross‑platform solution that required no deep programming so his ~40 students could move beyond theory and actually create working applications.

In fall 2010 the class adopted the cloud‑based Fujitsu RunMyProcess platform, using Google IDs and online tutorials to design, integrate and deploy apps — including an emergency alert system, an automated invoicing app for a mechanic shop, and a crowdsourced homework service. Students were able to turn models directly into working code in minutes, build fairly complex applications quickly, and significantly improve their practical application‑development skills and understanding of BPM.
