CalMatters, a nonprofit newsroom focused on California policy, partnered with Fueled to tackle the challenge of making vast amounts of complex government data accessible and understandable for both citizens and journalists. The raw public records were available but fragmented and difficult to search holistically.

Fueled developed the AI-powered Digital Democracy platform, built on a headless WordPress and Next.js stack. The solution organizes data into clear, visual profiles and features an intuitive search that returns real-time results from bills, transcripts, and donations. This first-of-its-kind resource has made California government more transparent and usable, and Fueled continues to support its evolution and potential expansion to other states.
