Z Energy, an Australasian energy company supplying fuel, bitumen and industrial ingredients, sought to lift employee engagement and specifically improve internal perceptions of career opportunities by boosting the quality of career conversations between managers and staff. To achieve this in 2013 they engaged Fuel50 and its CareerDrive™ offering to support a strategic initiative around career conversations and manager capability.

Fuel50 delivered a custom-branded CareerDrive site plus licensed training, accreditation and a “train-the-trainer” model so internal leader‑facilitators could run Powerful Career Conversations workshops. As a result, 50% of employees used the company site for career planning, ~45% had a career conversation with their manager in the first months after launch, and there was a +30% uplift in the Aon Hewitt engagement measure for “managers believe they have the tools, resources and support to hold meaningful career conversations with their people.”
