RTI International - Customer Case Study

RTI International, an independent non-profit research institute, faced a 2017 employee-survey finding that growth and development opportunities weren’t visible, learning wasn’t clearly tied to work, training time/resources were limited, and mentoring and leadership development were lacking. To address these gaps RTI engaged Fuel50 (System of Engagement; Gig Edition & Career Pathing) to deliver a mentoring application, feedback tools, and leader-facing career conversation support.

Fuel50 helped RTI build a Develop & Grow L&D vision using Design Thinking and a phased rollout—introducing FuelMentor, then FuelFeedback/FuelLeaders, followed by FuelGigs/FuelPathing and FuelGoals/FuelMobility/FuelAnalytics—to scale career development globally. Early results showed mentor relationships up by 36 (92 → 128), non-manager unique users up by 77 (508 → 585), 70.2% satisfaction with the new Career Experience, 62% returning users, and 31% of mentors with 10–20 years’ service, demonstrating measurable engagement and improved career visibility through Fuel50.
