A Fuel50 Case Study
Plant & Food Research, a New Zealand science company of about 800 people, faced an impending wave of retirements among senior science leaders and needed to build mid‑level leadership capability. To help staff move from day‑to‑day work thinking to longer‑term career planning, they piloted Fuel50’s on‑line career development tool combined with individual coaching to surface personal and career values, motivators and potential pathways.
Fuel50 invited 48 high‑potential people (46 participated) to complete the tool and take part in structured coaching and manager‑involved discussions, producing values‑based development plans and clearer career pathways. The initiative delivered strong engagement and validation of career choices, 0% turnover among the critical talent group and a 7.5% increase in annual revenue from critical talent since Fuel50 launched.
