Preview of the Allied Irish Banks Case Study

Allied Irish Banks - Customer Case Study

Allied Irish Banks (AIB), a major financial services group in Ireland and the UK, set out to replace a traditional, complex grading structure with a transparent career model that would increase internal mobility, empower employees to own their development, and strengthen the talent pipeline. To achieve this, AIB engaged Fuel50 in 2018 to deliver a Career Pathing solution that would simplify career levels, clarify capabilities, and support a long-term shift in career planning and development.

Fuel50 implemented a structured career architecture—12 Career Families, unique Core Jobs, seven Career Levels, and defined behavioural and technical Capabilities—supported by tools like FuelPathing, FuelGoals, FuelMentor and self‑insight reports to help employees explore careers and create development plans. The Fuel50 platform drove strong adoption and engagement at AIB: 94.72% uptake of the software and 96.01% of unique logins were returning users, and the program contributed to improved retention and employer brand recognition (AIB won the 2020 Irish HR Champion Award for Champion Use of Innovative Technology in HR).
