The Jacksonville Humane Society, a nonprofit dedicated to caring for shelter animals, faced the sudden threat of COVID-19 that jeopardized its major spring fundraiser, Mutt March. Drawing on prior experience moving events online after Hurricane Irma, the team had to quickly rework the walk, auction and community festival into a safe, virtual experience.
JHS switched registrations to a virtual-walker option and used Panorama by FrontStream (including BiddingForGood) to host an online silent auction, plus Facebook Live dog parades, curbside “Wag Bags,” and a sponsor page with digital promotions. The creative pivot kept most sponsors and donors engaged, met the auction fundraising goal, sold the majority of items, and offset some lost revenue through lower event costs.
