A Fronius Case Study
Magna Presstec GmbH, an Austrian automotive supplier, faced the challenge of producing a high-quality, complex frame for the Mercedes G that had to withstand rigorous off-road conditions. The nearly fully automated production required seamless integration of systems, high arc stability, controlled heat input, and complete traceability for all 657 welds per frame. To meet these stringent demands, Magna partnered with vendor Fronius.
The solution implemented by Fronius centered on its Pulse Multi Control (PMC) process and its TPSi welding systems, 36 of which were deployed on the production line. This was integrated with Fronius WeldCube Premium software for total digital traceability and data analysis to optimize processes and identify faulty welds. Fronius Central User Management was also used to control operator permissions. This allowed Magna to achieve a high degree of autonomous production, ensuring a completed frame leaves the hall every 10 minutes while maintaining the highest quality standards.
