Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH achieves low-warpage welding of 1–6 mm thin sheets with Fronius

Knoll Maschinenbau GmbH, a manufacturer of advanced industrial systems, faced a significant challenge in welding thin sheets from 1–6 mm thick. They needed a process with minimal heat input to reduce warping and produce high-quality, spatter-free seams, especially for visible components. To address this, they turned to Fronius and its TPS 320i welding machine.

The solution from Fronius utilized the intelligent MIG/MAG pulse synergic function on the TPS 320i. This process provided a pulsed arc with controlled material transfer, reducing energy input to minimize heat and precisely detaching droplets for a clean weld. As a result, Fronius enabled Knoll to achieve a precise, low-spatter, and low-warpage welding process across the entire power range, meeting their stringent quality requirements for visible parts.
