Weatherford Petroleum Consultants (WPC), developer of the Sendra core flow simulator, needed a way to perform reliable end-to-end GUI testing for their C++/Qt Windows application without building complex C++ unit-test harnesses. WPC evaluated tools and chose froglogic’s Squish to run tests against the live application, enabling GUI-level testing of features used by their oil industry and academic customers.

froglogic’s Squish was integrated into WPC’s toolchain alongside QtTest and CruiseControl, with tests written in Python and using Squish features like the Object Map and Squish Spy to improve script robustness. WPC have already developed over 30 automated Sendra test cases (with several hundred expected), and report measurable benefits from froglogic’s solution: better test coverage, improved application quality, higher release predictability, increased test reliability, reduced person-hours and shorter testing cycles, and far fewer regressions—outcomes that more than justified the Squish investment.
