Language Weaver, a California-based provider of statistical machine-translation software, faced slow, labor-intensive manual GUI testing for its Qt-based applications. To address this, the QA team selected froglogic’s Squish to automate testing of their standalone application and an ancillary Dictionary Tool, leveraging Squish’s Qt support and scripting capabilities.

froglogic delivered Squish-based test automation using Python scripts and tools like the Squish Spy, with responsive vendor support during onboarding. The result: about 80% of Language Weaver’s GUI test regime is now automated, significantly reducing manual effort, expanding test coverage, and enabling better integration with unit and regression testing; remaining manual tests are mainly due to native Windows GUI interactions or current scripting limits, with plans to automate regular runs and integrate the Python tests with their Perl harness.
