Specsavers and SQS use Squish for Spreadsheet-driven GUI Testing

Specsavers, a large global optician with thousands of stores and extensive in‑house software, needed a testing solution that would integrate with HP QC/ALM 11, run on Linux and Windows, support Java and web GUIs, and let non‑scripting testers drive GUI tests from spreadsheets. After evaluation by SQS, froglogic’s Squish was chosen to meet these requirements.

SQS implemented a spreadsheet‑driven, keyword testing framework that integrates froglogic’s Squish with HP QC/ALM, using Squish’s record-and-playback, QC plug‑in, runner/server architecture and Object Map to create robust GUI tests. The deployment now includes ~200 Squish tests of 2,000 for SOCRATES, 100 of 1,500 for Solar 7 and growing coverage for Connect; the approach lowered the bar for testers, improved test reliability, delivered cost‑effective automation, and expanded plans from 3 applications to testing 50 application variants, with froglogic providing responsive support.
