Sagem used froglogic’s Squish for Java to automate GUI testing for a Java Swing application running on an embedded Linux platform. Their challenge was validating a highly graphical, touch-screen-based application with many interfaces and frequent UI changes, making manual testing slow and difficult to maintain.

With froglogic’s Squish, Sagem implemented data-driven automated tests and customizable object naming to make scripts easier to adapt when the interface changed. The result was about 300 test cases, roughly 9,000 lines of script code, and 3,200 lines of data tables, covering around 30% of the application’s functionality while increasing test coverage without increasing validation time.
