Nokia shortens Testing Cycles for Ovi Store with froglogic Squish

Nokia India needed to automate GUI testing for several Qt-based applications—including Nokia Ovi Suite—across multiple OSes and architectures (32/64-bit Windows XP/Vista/7 and Linux). They faced challenges with robust object identification, testing scenarios that require a phone connected to a PC, and an asynchronous workflow where a Windows app produced data read by an Ubuntu app. To address this, Nokia turned to froglogic and its Squish GUI test automation tool.

froglogic’s Squish was used to create more than 200 automated test cases (primarily in Python 2) and employed features like property-based object identification with wildcard/regex matching, shared files for reusable functions and inter-process data exchange, the Squish Spy, and data-driven testing. froglogic’s solution allowed Nokia to validate cross-platform and phone-connected scenarios (including a shared-folder workflow linking Windows and Ubuntu apps), producing shorter testing cycles, reduced overall testing time, increased test coverage and reliability, and smoother integration—with froglogic’s responsive support cited as especially helpful.
