Funkwerk, a supplier of software for electronic railway control centers, faced the challenge of reliably validating the GUI of its control-panel application across real-world Linux environments and the Qt toolkit. To meet this need they evaluated tools and selected froglogic’s Squish (Squish for Qt) for automated GUI testing because of its Qt support, Linux compatibility and non‑intrusive approach.

froglogic implemented Squish to automate Funkwerk’s GUI tests, creating roughly 1,000 automated test cases and steadily increasing coverage. The result was more stable releases and a significantly reduced risk of critical errors in new releases; Funkwerk also cites Squish’s robustness to layout changes and excellent froglogic support as key factors in the solution’s success.
