Aalto University integrates, automates, and manages over 60 systems in-house with Frends iPaaS

Aalto University, Finland’s second-largest university, needed a central way to manage data flows across more than 60 systems supporting about 13,000 students and 4,000 staff members. Facing rising costs and the need for developer-level expertise just to maintain its previous open-source integration tools, the university turned to Frends Enterprise iPaaS to simplify and independently manage its integration environment.

With Frends Enterprise iPaaS, Aalto University now runs integrations in-house, including OpenAPI-based interfaces, traditional system-to-system transfers, and orchestration of RPA robots. The platform handles 51,000 daily and 1.65 million monthly executions, and it has helped Aalto automate key workflows such as IT support ticket routing with AI, reducing manual intervention and giving the team full visibility without deep technical knowledge.
