A Freezerworks Case Study
Michigan State University's Reproductive Health Surveillance Program (RHSP) faced the challenge of managing a unique wildlife biorepository containing thousands of reproductive tissue samples from roughly 400 species. With funding constraints and a need to organize a complex archive for long-term research into animal contraception and disease, they required a robust sample management system. The program turned to Freezerworks sample management software to address this need.
The solution implemented was Freezerworks, which provided a centralized system to manage the entire archive. The software uses a unique identifier to link all sample types and associated data for each animal, drastically improving organization and accessibility. This has enabled the RHSP to efficiently manage its vital collection, supporting ongoing research into wildlife contraception safety and the surprising interplay between birth control and cancer in species like jaguars, which may inform human health studies.
