How Florida A&M University Foundation is educating donors of all ages on the importance of legacy giving

Florida A&M University Foundation, the supporting organization for a public historically Black university, sought to diversify its donor contributions and revitalize its planned giving program. With a lean staff, the challenge was to educate and engage a broader demographic of alumni about legacy giving without requiring significant upfront bandwidth or cost from donors.

Partnering with FreeWill, the foundation implemented a strategy focused on outreach and education, using FreeWill's free estate planning tools to demystify legacy giving for donors of all ages and economic backgrounds. This solution enabled the University to cast a wide net. In 15 months, FreeWill helped the foundation secure over $2.9 million in bequest commitments from 56 new legacy donors, ensuring long-term support for its mission.
