Turns to FreeWave for Wireless M2M Technology

Sangamon Valley Public Water District (SVPWD) in Mahomet, IL, needed to redesign its water treatment operations to handle recent community growth while improving operational efficiency and connecting remote wells and booster stations. A key challenge was reliable long‑range communications so the SCADA system could access remote RTUs and the PLC for effective monitoring and control.

SVPWD deployed FreeWave’s wireless M2M network—jam‑resistant 900 MHz FHSS radios (MM2T transmitters/receivers/transceivers) linked to RTUs and the PLC—paired with Scadata’s hosted SCADA software on a WTP PC. The integrated solution provides real‑time remote access, SMS/email alerts, simple user configuration without costly programming, and scalable future expansion; it has already cut SVPWD’s costs by about 50% while improving control, reporting and operational efficiency.
