A FreeWave Case Study
Parker Water and Sanitation District, serving roughly 17,000 single-family equivalents across 43 square miles in fast-growing Parker, CO, needed an economical, uninterrupted Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications network that would integrate with its existing SCADA system to support secure, long-term, high-quality water service. Working with partner PCD Sales, the district sought a real-time, reliable wireless solution to replace aging PLC communications and to handle challenging terrain and rapidly expanding service needs.
FreeWave provided complimentary network design, path studies and Tool Suite software for remote configuration and diagnostics, and Parker deployed HTplus, FGR series and FGR2-IO radios across separate wastewater and water networks (the water network using a three-layer gateway/HTplus/subnet architecture). The result was an integrated, reliable M2M network that delivers real-time data across long distances and variable weather, enables desktop troubleshooting to cut field visits, communicates with every PLC, improves operational efficiency, and enhances public safety by continuously monitoring tank levels, temperatures and pressures.
