A Freeman Case Study
Funimation, a global media company serving anime fans worldwide, needed a way to engage its passionate community during the pandemic with an experience that felt authentic, interactive, and easy to use. The company turned to Freeman for help creating a virtual event that could stand up to the expectations set by in-person anime conventions.
Freeman built and produced FunimationCon 2020 as a first-ever virtual fan convention, including the event platform, technology integrations, remote production, concurrent sessions, live and prerecorded content, virtual concerts, exhibitor areas, swag quest, and chat functionality. The event exceeded goals and delivered strong measurable impact, including 331,000 hours spent in activities, 108,000 chat comments, 14.7 million minutes viewed, more than 760,000 page views, and a +69 NPS overall (+71 among 13–24-year-olds).
