Using Allegro CL and its Common Lisp Object System (CLOS), Franz provided the technology for SchemaText, which delivered powerful object-oriented capabilities for managing schema evolution. This solution allowed for rapid development and the ability to make fundamental design changes without data loss. The results included a significant productivity advantage, with the company stating that Lisp gave them a three to five times advantage over C/C++, evidenced by completing a massive project to translate the Common Lisp ANSI-standard spec into HTML in just three weeks instead of many months.
