MTU Aero Engines - Customer Case Study

MTU Aero Engines, Germany's leading engine manufacturer, needed to improve the interaction between CAD and CAE workflows to optimize the air passage design of aircraft engines. As part of the European EXAMPLE@ project to adopt Isogeometric Analysis (IGA), MTU worked with vendor Franz Inc., using Allegro CL to develop new geometry representations for turbine parts.

Franz Inc. delivered Allegro CL–based geometry representations that enabled generation of turbine part geometries and better integration of CAD and CAE processes to support IGA. The Franz Inc. solution helped MTU streamline optimization loops and advance the mathematical technology for design and simulation, improving design/analysis integration and laying the groundwork for increased engine efficiency (no specific numeric metrics were reported).
