France Telecom manages 34 million fixed lines with Franz Inc. in a flexible Lisp decision support system

The customer France Telecom faced the challenge of managing demands for new digital and video connections in its Greater Paris network. Their previous applications were difficult to use and adapt, so they sought to develop a highly interactive decision support system. They partnered with vendor Franz Inc. and used Allegro CL and Allegro CLIM to build their new application, Recife.

Franz Inc. provided the Common Lisp development environment that allowed France Telecom to create a robust and flexible multi-user application. The solution, Recife, could quickly evolve with network changes and guide users with multiple solutions. The results included a system that could be modified while running and scaled by adding more workstations to support new users without technical problems, ensuring high performance and future adaptability.
