The customer, France Telecom, faced the challenge of managing new connection demands in its Paris network with outdated, difficult-to-adapt applications written in Fortran or Cobol. They partnered with the vendor, Franz Inc., using its Allegro CL Common Lisp development environment to create a new, highly interactive decision support system called Recife.

Franz Inc. provided the Allegro CL and CLIM tools that enabled France Telecom to build the graphical, multi-user Recife application. The solution allowed for rapid, on-the-fly modifications and could scale by adding more workstations to support a large number of concurrent users. This resulted in a flexible system that assists users with solutions while giving them the freedom to make their own decisions, ensuring the application can meet both current and future requirements.
