Using Allegro CL for Windows from Franz Inc., they developed FaultrEASE as part of their RiskWorks™ suite to provide a Windows GUI, dynamic CAD‑style editing, and robust mathematical evaluation for large‑scale fault trees.

Franz Inc.’s Allegro CL/CLOS enabled a placement algorithm, a class‑based multiple‑document GUI and a direct evaluator that eliminates repeated‑event errors. The resulting FaultrEASE system (implemented with 80 classes and 495 methods) is learnable in about 15 minutes, lets users prune/clone/graft branches dynamically with automatic rebalancing, and delivers exact, much faster evaluations than conventional methods—improving accuracy, speed, and developer productivity for Arthur D. Little and their clients.
