A Framer Case Study
Flipboard, a news-aggregation app with about 90 million monthly active users, faced pressure from rivals like Apple News and Facebook to make its product feel fresh and more personally relevant. The Flipboard design team turned to Framer’s prototyping and design tools to move beyond their conservative evolution and rethink navigation and personalization around deeper “passions” rather than broad topics.
Using Framer, Flipboard rapidly prototyped a spatial navigation model, tested interactive concepts with real users, and iterated quickly, which directly informed the redesigned Flipboard experience. The outcome—launched features like the “What’s your passion?” onboarding and hyper-personalized Smart Magazines that surface niche interest clusters from Flipboard’s interest graph—was enabled by Framer’s workflow and accelerated their design cycle while rolling the new model out to Flipboard’s large user base.
