Case Study: Dropbox achieves design-system scale and faster prototyping with Framer

A Framer Case Study

Dropbox - Customer Case Study

Dropbox, a rapidly growing file-storage company, faced a challenge keeping product UI cohesive as its design org expanded from about 20 to over 50 product designers and dozens of writers, researchers, and illustrators. To standardize work and reduce time spent on repetitive UI building, Dropbox adopted Framer — using Framer Kits and the Framer Design tab alongside Sketch libraries — to create reusable components and more realistic desktop prototypes.

Using Framer, Dropbox’s Design Systems team created and published a Framer Desktop Kit of hand-drawn UI components, code snippets, and sample prototypes that sped up prototyping, cut down time spent redrawing basic UI, and made it easy for other designers to contribute. Framer-powered prototypes helped sell complex onboarding flows to senior leadership, improved cross-platform consistency, and let the team scale faster by enabling designers rather than policing standards.
