Fraedom helps university to gain control over procurement card spend

Sheffield Hallam University, the fourth largest university in the UK with around 400 purchasing cards in use, struggled with a manual, error-prone reconciliation process that left procurement staff and finance teams burdened by spreadsheets, paper receipts and monthly batched claims. To gain control of card spend and improve visibility, the university selected Fraedom and its expense management platform.

Fraedom implemented its Card Module (with daily Barclaycard feeds, automated coding via Spend Wizards and online manager approvals), removing manual data entry and enabling on-demand reporting. As a result Fraedom freed up the finance team the equivalent of eight working days per month, saved cardholders roughly an hour a month, reduced errors and delivered real‑time spend visibility across departments.
