GE Power, a global leader in power generation, faced slow and costly access to large, image-based PDFs (design drawings, manuals and other technical documents). Long download times at power plant sites, high bandwidth and storage costs, and daily productivity losses made accessing critical documents frustrating and inefficient.

To address this, GE licensed Foxit’s ImageOptimization for Documentum to compress and optimize engineering documents—processing 40 million pages per year. The solution halved many files and cut file size/download time by up to 25% (driving up to a 30% gain in document-handling efficiency), with some downloads falling from 4–5 minutes to as little as 30 seconds, while maintaining PDF integrity and reducing storage and bandwidth costs.
