Foxit Rendition Server Paves the Way to E-Justice for the Bavarian Judiciary

Unisys Germany, the long‑time IT partner of the Bavarian Judiciary, needed to modernize document handling to meet Germany’s e‑Justice requirements: courts had to convert large volumes of paper and scanned mail into standardized, archival PDF/A‑2U files that are searchable, compressed, auditable and suitable for electronic filing across the state’s courts.

Unisys implemented Foxit Rendition Server as a centralized, scalable PDF conversion service (using load balancing and open SOAP/REST interfaces via the Unisys Rendition Server Interface) to perform OCR, compression and consistent PDF/A‑2U output. The platform now processes about 10,000 documents per week, significantly speeds PDF creation, reduces storage and eases transmission and archiving, with planned extensions to SharePoint and Windows Explorer integration.
