Hyundai Rotem advances 65-train Queensland program to compliance with Fox-IT

Hyundai Rotem, a key contractor for the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP), faced the challenge of achieving compliance with stringent rail cybersecurity standards IEC 62443 and CLC/TS 50701 for a new fleet of trains. The project's scale, multi-phase delivery, and complex stakeholder ecosystem required a structured, evidence-based approach to cyber risk management that integrated seamlessly with safety engineering. They engaged vendor Fox-IT, a part of NCC Group, to provide specialized cybersecurity services for the program.

Fox-IT delivered a full cybersecurity lifecycle program, conducting structured risk assessments, design reviews, and penetration testing tailored to rail standards. This solution enabled Hyundai Rotem to achieve regulatory compliance with a full audit trail, strengthen its cyber-secure configurations, and gain a deepened understanding of the standards. The project successfully positioned Hyundai Rotem for future international opportunities and set a high cybersecurity benchmark for Australia's national railway.
