How PetSmart Optimized Store Operations Through Superior Supply Chain Visibility

PetSmart, the largest specialty pet retailer with more than 1,650 stores and roughly 180,000 annual deliveries, faced frequent early/late shipments and high labor costs as store associates spent significant time receiving, unloading and coordinating deliveries. To gain end-to-end freight visibility and reduce disruptions to store operations, PetSmart selected FourKites in early 2019 to track North American shipments across truckload, LTL, ocean and rail.

FourKites onboarded carriers and deployed its predictive visibility platform, analytics and a custom automated alert system, achieving tracking of more than 95% of outbound carriers and 83% tracking consistency within six months. The FourKites solution cut dock wait time and call-center ETA inquiries, improved labor allocation so associates could focus on customer-facing work, and delivered measurable operational gains that earned PetSmart FourKites’ Golden Kite Award for innovation.
