Territory Studio creates a 1930s Hollywood backdrop in 8 weeks with Foundry

Territory Studio faced the challenge of creating a fully CG rear-projection of 1930s Wilshire Boulevard for the Netflix film *Mank*. They needed to deliver this complex sequence ahead of the shoot for use on an LED volume, a difficult task given the monochrome film style and a tight, immovable deadline.

Using Foundry's Nuke, the team built a detailed 3D environment and managed a high volume of updates through a custom template script. Nuke's integrated 3D and particle toolsets were used extensively to add fine details and atmospheric effects. Foundry's solution enabled Territory Studio to successfully create a highly realistic and authentic sequence that transported viewers back to 1930s Los Angeles.
