TAT Productions streamlines animation compositing with Foundry in a 280-node render farm

TAT Productions, a prolific European animation studio, faced challenges with flexibility and efficiency in their compositing workflow while using After Effects. They sought a more powerful solution to work with complex CG renders, including deep compositing and advanced AOVs, to avoid multiple re-renders and gain greater creative control. This led them to adopt Foundry's NukeX.

Foundry's solution, centered on NukeX, provided TAT Productions with the advanced toolset needed for deep compositing and managing complex multi-channel EXR renders. The studio also integrated Foundry's HieroPlayer for efficient shot review. This new pipeline allowed TAT Productions to build custom internal tools, significantly improving their workflow and creative control. As a result, they successfully produced the feature film "Epic Tails" and are now equipped to handle multiple future projects with greater efficiency.
