A Foundry Case Study
Framestore faced the significant challenge of creating complex visual effects for the multi-vendor project Deadpool & Wolverine. Their work included pivotal scenes with massive amounts of data, such as a 200-shot scrolling battle sequence, which required seamlessly blending live action, CG, and 2D elements. They relied on Foundry's industry-standard compositing software, Nuke, as an essential part of their pipeline to manage this enormous task.
The solution implemented by Foundry provided Framestore with a powerful and flexible toolset. Nuke's ability to handle large, complicated scripts and its Deep Compositing capabilities were essential for the project's success. Furthermore, Framestore used Nuke as a packager to easily share assets like geometry, cameras, and plates with other VFX vendors, greatly enhancing collaboration. This allowed the team to complete over 450 shots to a high standard, efficiently managing thousands of layers and a huge amount of data across multiple global sites.
