Community Foundation Serving the Heart of Western Pennsylvania is a small, local grantmaking organization managing about $8 million in assets with a staff of three. Before adopting Foundant Technologies’ CommunitySuite, the foundation used QuickBooks and DonorPro and relied on an outside accountant for time‑consuming monthly investment gain/loss distributions, struggled with donor and event reporting, and had no integrated events or grant application tools.
Foundant Technologies implemented CommunitySuite to unify financials, donor management, events, and grant workflows—adding one‑click monthly distribution of gains/losses, event RSVP and revenue/expense tracking, and a grant catalog that eliminated paper applications. As a result, the foundation no longer hires an outside accountant for monthly calculations, spends far less time on financials, has daily visibility into finances, and has streamlined scholarship and grant processes that support 27 scholarship funds (over $61,000 awarded) and more than $256,000 in grants in 2015.
