Digitizing Cultural Heritage: LIECHTENSTEIN. The Princely Collections

The Princely Collections of Liechtenstein, one of the world's most important private art collections, required a solution to digitize and manage over 170,000 digital assets totaling more than 15 TB. The challenge was to safeguard this cultural heritage by creating a seamless digital archive, integrating it with their existing MuseumPlus collections management software, and eliminating the need for tedious, error-prone manual data entry.

The solution was implemented using the Fotoware Alto digital asset management platform. Its seamless API integration with MuseumPlus automated workflows and synchronized metadata bidirectionally, turning complex filenames into searchable tags. This integration drastically reduced the time required to manage and search the vast collection, saving countless work hours and providing a secure, cloud-based global platform for preserving and accessing the digital assets.
