CI/CD and Open Source Compliance at Scale

Verizon Media faced a large-scale open source license compliance challenge across dozens of mobile apps built from many nested libraries, making manual auditing impractical and risky. To address this, Verizon Media partnered with FOSSA to bring open source license analysis into its CI/CD process so developer and DevOps teams could ensure compliant code at scale.

FOSSA was integrated with Verizon’s in-house Screwdriver CI/CD platform to run during builds (with on-demand and default scripts), identify actual dependencies, and generate automated credit reports. The rollout scanned hundreds of projects and thousands of builds, saved legal and engineering time, reduced risk and indirect costs by at least hundreds of thousands of dollars, and enabled continuous compliance and faster, lower‑risk deployments.
