UNO Charter Schools partnered with FOS of CannonDesign to address a significant deferred maintenance backlog across 13 Chicago-area charter schools totaling 750,000 square feet. The challenge was to better understand facility conditions and prioritize limited maintenance resources across multiple campuses.

FOS of CannonDesign assessed building systems, equipment, and infrastructure at each school, documented deficiencies, and developed repair and replacement cost estimates. The team also calculated facility condition index (FCI) and current replacement value (CRV) metrics and created a centralized capital planning repository, giving UNO a long-term tool to prioritize renewals, reduce deferred maintenance, and update plans over time.
